Funny River Community Association History
Funny River Community Association began in 1987 as the Funny River Chamber of Commerce & Community Association (FRCCCA). Some of our early residents had a dream of Funny River as a growing, thriving community on the Kenai River in Alaska, and they worked hard to make that dream become a reality. We owe them a debt of gratitude for laying the groundwork and spending sweat equity and precious dollars to create a community gathering space in Funny River.
In 2017, the FRCCCA Board of Directors made the decision to split the Community Association away from the Chamber of Commerce to facilitate fundraising and to more accurately reflect the actual structure of the organization. The Community Association and the Chamber of Commerce continue to work closely together for the benefit of the residents and the businesses of Funny River. Both the Community Association and the Chamber of Commerce operate out of the Community Center at 35850 Pioneer Access Drive in the Funny River Community.
